Angharad Franziska

She/Her

DSCF7064 - Angharad Franziska.JPG

Angharad Franziska (she/her) is an intermedia artist and poet originally from south east Wales, now based in Edinburgh. She works with sound, video, installation, collage, with a thematic focus on language, landscape, place, process, clarity and confusion. The influence of Welsh folk traditions have instilled in her an attitude of accessibility, ensuring that art is relevant to everyone regardless of education or status. Extending beyond typical Welsh-speaking audiences, challenging traditional presentations of their identity.Franziska’s experiences as a Welsh, femme, queer, autistic artist are not necessarily definitive of her practice but are informative. She is adamant that autism is intrinsic to her creative process - differences in how she perceives and interacts with the world push her to question systems and responses considered ‘typical’. Her willingness to obscure and confuse the audience is similar to her perspective of an often strange and overwhelming world.
