Hi, I’m Hannah Killoh, an Edinburgh based Artist and Designer specialising in photography, illustration and publication/print design.

I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art (Photography BA hons) in 2013, lived and worked in Japan from 2013 to 2016, and graduated from a masters in Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University in 2017. Since then I’ve been working as the Publishing Assistant for the National Galleries of Scotland as well as freelancing on the side.

My photography looks at the quiet, everyday moments within fantastic spaces such as amusement parks, themed restaurants and tropical island resorts. While my illustration shows everyday objects through a chaotic, and usually funny/surreal, perspective within the everyday. This contrast between quiet photography and chaotic illustration directly represents my mind, the way I exist in the world and the two ways in which I work. Over the years I’ve found it difficult to represent this duality within the same space. However, recently I’ve started to make zines and have found this an accessible and creative medium to bring these two different worlds together using my knowledge of publication design. This is something I will explore further in the exhibition by showing my illustrations and photography side by side.
